Masquerade was published in 1979 and contained all the clues needed to find a golden hare hidden in the shadow of Catherine of Aragon’s cross in Ampthill Park.
In 1979, artist Kit Williams buried a golden hare somewhere in the British countryside, and launched a treasure hunt that would capture the imagination of people around the world.
All the clues were hidden in the picture book Masquerade and led to Ampthill Park where the shadow of Catherine of Aragon’s cross pointed to the dig spot at precisely midday of the vernal equinox.
